The Iron Giant - The "Lake Tidal Wave" Sequence

These few scenes showed how the wave built up before the big crash. I tried to keep the design of the water bold and fairly minimal to make sure everything would read properly within the small time frame (those scenes were all very brief).

In one of the scene, I had to animate the wave within Dean's glasses (last image below).

I keyed the water animation of all those scenes on 4s (1,5,9,13 etc) and my assistant, Matt Maners, did all the inbetweens (2,3,4,6,7,8,10,11,12 etc).

Note: I had nothing to do with the animation of Hogarth or Dean. As an effects animator, my task was to create all the water animation.
