Emerald City Comicon 2005 Report

OK, this is going to be a very short report (due to my lack of time) but the convention was so darn good that I feel I need to mention it.

We had an amazing time. We had fantastic sales. Fun! Fun! Fun! On Saturday, I participated in a panel about self-publishing and that went very well. I came in about 10 minutes late which made me look a bit foolish, but other than that, it was a blast.

We met a lot of old and new friends. Our booth was right next to the Twomorrows booth where Silver/Bronze age comic legend Roy Thomas was signing. It was a delight to meet Roy. I've read hundreds of Roy's comics (he's most famous for his long stint on Marvel's Conan The Barbarian) and it was fun hearing some of his stories. Roy was there promoting his magazine Alter Ego, and signing comics for a multitude of fans.

Across the aisle was Image Comics where Ovi Nedelcu was promoting his new series called Pigtale. My wife read the first issue and thought it was one of the best comic she ever read. This is a great book and I highly recommend it.

We did a bit of shopping also. Some of the stuff we got include an original painting by Steve Rolston, Derek Kirk Kim's Same Difference and Other Stories, four back issues of The Jack Kirby Collector as well as a bunch of old monster/sci-fi comic books.

We love this convention and look forward to being there again next year! Here are some photos:
