Live
on Singaporean Radio
When
I visited
Singapore last June, Kyle Balda (Pixar/ILM)
and myself were escorted to the National Broadcasting
Station where we were interviewed live. It was
an interesting experience that had me quite nervous
at first but ended up being a most relaxed and
pleasant time.
Here's
a recording of the interview:

Andrew
fixed my beetle!
From
Andrew Scott's blog:
"I
just finished repairing a rather large specimen
of Chalcosoma caucasus. It belongs to my good
friend Michel Gagné, and was a gift to him from
his brother in Quebec. When it originally arrived
at Michel's place, it was slightly damaged, having
partially lost three of its legs and its wing
covers (elytra)." (Read

T-Shirt
sells on eBay for $867!
Back
in 2001, I did a drawing of Meltdown
Comics' mascot (MEL) for
the owner, my pal Gaston. Little
did I know that 6
years later, in Micheal Bay's
Transformers Movie, actor
Shia LaBeouf (Sam) would be wearing
a T-shirt
featuring that very
drawing!
The
shirt has just been
auctioned on ebay and
sold for the modest amount
of $867.77! Crazy!
The
shirt, minus LaBeouf's sweat, can be purchased
for $20 directly
from Meltdown
Comics.

Sara
Funk Meets Michel
A
few months ago, I was contacted by the Make-A-Wish
Foundation, an organization that
has enriched the lives of children with life-threatening
medical
conditions
through its wish-granting work.
They
told me about a seventeen year old girl
named Sara Funk, whose wish was to meet me.
Wow!
How cool is that? I was honored and immediately
agreed to a meeting.
Last
week, the foundation flew Sara and her dad all
the way from Georgia. They came to my home studio
where we hung out for about 3 hours. I shared
some of my techniques, gave a sneak peek at my
upcoming projects and looked at Sara's promising
work.
Sara
and I had a great time!

Gagne
International on Myspace
A
lot of people have been emailing me about joining
myspace.com. The last thing I need is another reason
to spend more time on the internet, so I've been
ignoring the requests.
A
few days ago, one of my pal set up the whole thing
for me. Thanks Mike! So now, I'm going to give
this a shot and see where it goes. I'll be making
routine visits to read comments and leave replies.
Visit
Gagné's myspace at www.myspace.com/michelgagne.

Flight
4
Flight
4 hits stores today! For those who are not familiar
with Flight, it is a thick anthology that features
creator owned stories by some of todays best sequential
artists.
The
project is the brainchild of Kazu
Kibuishi who
acts as editor for the series. Kazu has
also done the covers for volume 1, 3 and 4 which
are
nothing
short of brilliant. He's an inspiration to many
of us. Here,
you can read a recent interview with the man himself.
Since
Flight 2, I've been very fortunate to have
the opening part of the
book to feature my on-going Saga
of REX. Flight
4 features a new 32-page chapter that I hope you
will all enjoy. You can see a
preview here.
For
more on the content of the book, you can check
this
huge preview on Newsarama.

So
Many Visitors
I
want to apologize for the extreme slowness of my
website these past few days. Here's what's happening:
A
few days ago, I
posted a page dedicated to my work on Ratatouille
in the animation
gallery.
Within hours, the page was being
featured in blogs all over the web (Drawn, Flight, Publisher
Weekly, Motion
Brazil, Andertoons,
8.97º GRÁFICOS, Flowing
Data, La
Guayaba Verde, A
Parade of One, Cartoon
News & Views, Mac4Ever,
Thinking
Animation, New
York Entertainment, Fictions, The
Portland Mercury, Motiongrapher, Creative
Synthesis, Information
Aesthetics, VFXHack, Think
in Pictures, etc...)
which has resulted in a massive surge of people
accessing
my webpages.
I
just talked to my website service and they said
that even though I have one of their premium
plan (dedicated private server with 500 GBs Bandwidth/month),
I might need to upgrade yet again. I really don't
want to do
that
at this
point (this website is becoming very costly to
maintain), so I'm going to weather this storm for
a few days
and hope the amount of visitors go down to a
more manageable size soon. If that doesn't happen,
I'll
consider alternatives.

"REX" Fan
Art from Sandra Khoo
In
Singapore, a nice girl named Sandra Khoo gave me
a wonderful painting of Rex. She says she's a big
fan and this was to thank me. This one is going
to hang in my studio! Above is a small detail of
it, click
here to see the full thing.
Sandra
also emailed me a bunch of pictures she took at
CG Overdrive. Click
here to check them out!
