SIGGRAPH
2006 Electronic Theater in Montreal
If
you live in Montreal, you might want to check out
the SIGGRAPH 2006 Electronic Theater screening
on November 1st. From what I hear, this is a superb
program really worth your while. The screening
features several
ground breaking shorts and clips, as well
as my Insanely
Twisted Shadow Puppets interstitials. This might
be your only chance to see these on a
big screen.
We created a hi-rez master specifically
for the Siggraph showing.
I
was also delighted to see that Siggraph used one
of my "Shadow Puppet" images to promote
the screening. Cool!

XEKO
- Mission Costa Rica Now Available
We
received our shipment of the new XEKO trading card
game (Mission:
Costa Rica) for which I painted several
illustrations. It looks really good. All the artists
really came through with the illustrations, and Matter
Group did a great job with the packaging. It's
a nice
complement to Mission
Madagascar. You can
order
both, Madagascar and Costa Rica starter
kits as
well as the booster
packs directly
from us.
Check out some of my XEKO art here.

Stumptown
Comics Fest
I
will be signing in Portland, Oregon at the Stumptown
Comics Fest on Friday, Oct 27 from
4pm to 8pm and
Saturday, Oct 28 from 10am to 6pm.
I
was a guest at the event last
year and I had a great time. One of
the things Nancy an I really enjoy about the show
is the fact that it focuses on independent comics
and
creators
rather than
mainstream.
That's why we decided to go back again,
this time
as regular exhibitors. Besides, we love to visit
Portland so any excuse to do that is a good one.
Guests
this year include my pals Steve
Rolston and Kazu
Kibuishi, as well as many comics veterans and talented
up-and-comers. Check out the guests and exhibitors
list here.

Pushing
FX Animation Design in a Computer Animation World
Since
the beginning of September, I've been involved with
the upcoming Opus: The Last Christmas movie
which is scheduled to be released in 2008.
Obviously, I can't post or discuss any of the work
I'm doing
on
the
film, but let's just say that I'm very excited about
it. I've been dreaming about pushing the way FX animation
is designed and animated on these animated CG films
and this looks like it's going to be my chance to
do
just
that.
As
busy as I am with animation, I still
manage to plug away on my own projects.
This weekend, I finished two
pages
for ZED
#8. Since I hate making posts without pictures,
here's a small section of a panel from the
page I finished today :)

Illustrations
for XEKO
Last
summer, I was commissioned by Matter Group to do
35 more illustrations for the trading card game XEKO.
This week, I received an email from them saying
it was OK to put my illustrations on line, so here
they
are:

These
illustrations were quite challenging because of the
intense schedule (I had to produce
one painting a day from sketch to final) and the
high level of realism.

I
really had to push my photoshop skills to the max!!
I certainly learned a tremendous amount about the
software.

It
was also fun doing research and finding out about
the natural world of Costa-Rica.

Interview
@ BEDEKA.org
For
those who can read French, I did an interview recently
with Éric Lamiot for BEDEKA.org. Check
it out here.
BEDEKA.org is a website dedicated to comics creators from Québec,
my native province.
