Interview @ Comicon.com - The Pulse

"Michel Gagne is just one of the comic creators/animators who got to be a part of the new Pixar feature film, Ratatouille. He told us what it was like getting the call from Pixar to work on the project, how it was different from Iron Giant and what's coming up in his comic book toils." (Click here to read.)

Off to Singapore

Nancy and I are packing our suitcases and heading off to Singapore where I will be lecturing on the art of FX animation at the CG Overdrive symposium. If you happen to be in that part of the world, you should definitely check it out.

I'll post some pictures when I get back.

Ratatouille

Nancy and I just got back from San Francisco where we attended the Ratatouille screening and wrap party at the Nob Hill Masonic Center. The film was incredible. We loved it. This is my favorite Pixar movie. The storytelling, the art direction, the animation - everything worked in perfect harmony. Brad Bird is a genius filmmaker, that's all there is to it!

It was great fun seeing my talented animation pals Brad, Andy, Steve, Mark, Pete, Lou, Rich, Adam as well as making new friends. Sometimes, tucked in my little cave, I miss the creative environment a studio can provide. By the way, Steve Pilcher, if you're reading this, send me your email ;)

I am so happy I was able to make a small contribution to the movie. My duty was to create the abstract taste visualization for Remy and Emile. It was a pleasure to work with Brad again and I love the fact that I was able to create the animation from conception to final color, right here in my home studio in Washington!

When Ratatouille opens in theater, go see it!

ZED #8 Solicited in June Previews

Just want to let everyone know that ZED #8 is currently soliciting on page 302 of the current issue of Diamond's Previews. Here's what the solicitation looks like:

Please, pass the word around and let your comic shops know about it. Issue #8 is pretty spectacular and has the most lavish and energetic work I've done on the series so far. I promise, you've never seen an all-out space battle like what's inside that issue!
