ZED #9 update
May 31st, 2008

I'm almost done with ZED #9 - only a couple more pages to go. Then, Nancy (beloved wife) and I will sit down and do a final edit together. Hopefully there won't be too many corrections. Nancy is a tough editor! Then, it's off to the printer and back in time for the San-Diego Comic-Con.

Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet Update
May 22nd, 2008

For all those asking...

Yes, we are still very much at work on the game. We've created a new 1-minute trailer, and screened-captured 10 minutes of actual play to show investors. It's a pretty impressive package.

I've entered a legal partnership with Fuelcell to produce the game and I could not have chosen a better team. These guys are amazing at what they do and I totally respect their opinions. It's a good matchup.

This project is turning out to be one of the true highlight of my animation career.

Frenzied Fauna and Freaky Flora
May 12th, 2008

For years, I've been thinking of reprinting the long sold out, Frenzied Fauna: From A to Z. My vision for a new edition was always to package it with its companion, Freaky Flora: From A to Z, in one single volume.

The wait is finally over. Lo and behold: Frenzied Fauna and Freaky Flora!

When combining the two books, I wanted to make sure that the whole thing worked well as a unified entity. To achieve this, I created a new wraparound cover, a new illustrated title page and new artwork to help the general flow. I also took the opportunity to replace two illustrations from "Freaky Flora" with brand new ones (I learned after publishing the book in 2004, that "Mushrooms" and "Anemone" were not part of the "Flora").

The whole package is 64 pages in full color and retail for $20. Click here for more info.

I'm so thankful for Lulu and their excellent "print on demand" capabilities. With Lulu, anyone can make a high quality book with no upfront cost. The books are printed on demand and shipped from the printer directly to the customer. The process is very fast and the books look outstanding. Isn't that incredible? I'm totally jazzed about this.

I have so many ideas that are not in the realm of mainstream publishing and now, I have a great outlet for them.

Shadow Tattoo
May 11th, 2008

Here's another picture of a tattoo I received in an email:

Hi,

I really love your work. You have a real unique style.

About 5 years ago i had part of an illustration from The Great Shadow Migration tattooed on my arm.

People always say ''that's cool, very different'' and I tell them about where it's from and its wonderful story.

Alex

RIP Star (1997-2008)
May 8th, 2008

Today, one of our very best friends in the whole world passed away. For over ten years, Star was our constant companion. We walked together nearly everyday. She used to sleep in my studio while I worked on my various projects. Her presence was comforting beyond words for both, my wife and I.

She was the best dog anybody could ever hope for. We miss her so much.

Yet Another ZED Pinup
May 7th, 2008

This one comes from Canadian artist, Paul Rivoche.

Paul's work will be featured in the upcoming Flight 5. You can also check his blog where he's featuring some of the amazing layouts and background designs he created for the recently released "Justice League - The New Frontier" DVD.

Pinup From Tony
May 1st, 2008

Check out this cool ZED pinup from Tony Cliff.

Tony is one of my Flight comrades. His stuff is so cool. In fact, his newest comic, "Delilah Dirk and the Treasure of Constantinople" is nominated for an Eisner Award.
