Fan Art
June 30, 2008
This email made my day:
Hi Mr. Gagne;
I've been a long time fan of your artwork and have had the great pleasure of meeting you on a couple occasions when you were still located in the Los Angeles area. I work for Electronic Arts now as an animator and have one of your Twisted Rabbit sculptures by my desk. :) EA has just come out with a new piece of software called the Spore Creature Creator, which is a great load of fun! It makes it really easy to make all sorts of creative monsters, and almost immediately your style of creatures came to mind. I looked at the sculpture for reference and tried to recreate the Spike Tail Rabbit in the program, and I think I had a little success!
It's really neat to see the rabbit walking around in 3D space and swinging his tail around. I made a movie of some ambient behaviors here.
This little bit of "fanart" is just a way of saying thank you for being a great inspiration to me! I look forward to getting the Shadow Puppets video game!

He's always working on new sculptures that are both unerving and mind blowing. Check out some of his new pieces on flicker and etsy.
The 10 Best Animated Flash Films
June 10, 2008
The popular animation website, Cold Hard Flash, has just released a list of the ten best animated Flash films as selected by a blue ribbon panel of animation industry professionals. I was surprised and excited to find out that my series of interstitials, Insanely Twisted Shadow Puppets, ranked at number 3.
I was contacted for an interview a few days ago, and was told that I was part of the 15 finalists, but I had no idea ITSP would rank so high! You can read the interview here.

COMING: Saturday, June 7th, 2008
Jim Woodring, Jeffrey Brown, and myself are the three Guests of Honor at this year's Olympia Comics Festival, in Washington state. I don't know the exact details yet but what I do know, is that I'll be on a panel with Jim Woodring and Katy O'Brien, discussing the art of silent comics. I'll also be available to chat, and sign books and comics. Go to the official website for more info.
I recently did a phone interview for The Olympian about the the Festival. Click here to read.
