Back from PAX and Hard at Work
January 27th, 2015

PAX South was a total blast! I had so much fun. It was also a great opportunity to connect with my fellow Gearboxians. It was fantastic to see the enthusiams of the Gearbox fans. I'm starting to realize the extent of the company's fan base and it makes me appreciative to be involved to such degree on their new triple A title, Battleborn.

I'm back at work and motivated more than ever to totally push the limits of what can be achieved in real-time VFX. To have a wonderful canvas such as Battleborn to stretch my wings is a dream come true and a real challenge that keeps me on my toes every day of the week.

Here are some pictures from the trip. First one is a Gearbox group picture with CEO, Randy Pitchford (on the right) and a fan constructed Claptrap from Borderland. I'm the one with the Warner Brothers hat.

Here's a pic of my buddy and old work mate, Sam Fleming, who hung out with us at PAX. We don't know who the wolf was but when we saw him/her, we just had to take a picture.

Art Director, Scott Kester, discusses my VFX at the Battleborn panel. I had no idea this was going to happen and was truly honored to be feature in such a way.

Signing with my fellow Gearbox mates.

Waiting in line for one of the many parties that took place at PAX. From left to right is myself, Seung Kim (my assistant extraordinaire) and Ash Lyons, a valued member of our VFX team.

Happy Belated New Year!

For over a year, I've been Effects Director for Gearbox Software, working on their new IP, Battleborn. Later this month, I will be at PAX South, courtesy of Gearbox. If you attend, come by the Gearbox booth and say hi.

The Saga of Rex is still moving forward with Grid Animation. We're working on the adaptation. The Graphic Novel was originally conceived as a 40 minutes film but distribution requirements dictate 72 minutes. We need to flesh out the story and that's a tall order. I'm working with Jesper Møller, who is writing the screenplay adaption. It's going to be an amazing film when all is said and done, I know it!
